Joelle specialises in corporate and commercial law and advises on a wide range of business matters including business sales and purchases, transaction structuring, due diligence processes, shareholder arrangements, joint ventures, capital raising, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance and corporate governance.

She has considerable experience in merger and acquisition transactions, and works with businesses of all sizes seeking to aquire other businesses and grow, or otherwise seeking a sale of business to exit and realise value. She has led large and complex transactions including detailed due diligence investigations, competitive bid processes and complex multi-party negotiations and transaction drafting.

Joelle also advises distressed businesses in respect of corporate restructuring and rescue options as well as working with receivers, liquidators and administrators in the sale of business and assets of insolvent entities. She has been involved in the sale and purchase of assets following receiverships of the ABC childcare centres in Australia, Great Southern Plantations, Borders online bookshops and Whitcoulls airport outlets, as well as acquisitions from Solid Energy while subject to deed of company arrangement.

Joelle has a commercial and pragmatic approach and enjoys working closely with clients to achieve positive outcomes in the business environment.  She is known for her excellent drafting and negotiation skills, dedication to the transaction and attention to detail in the preparation and negotiation of a vast array of commercial contracts and transactional documents.

Joelle works with clients across New Zealand as well as overseas.  She is uniquely placed to assist with cross-border acquisitions as prior to returning to New Zealand she spent eight years in a large corporate law firm in Sydney, Australia. Joelle knows how things operate on both sides of the Tasman which facilitates efficiencies and ease of business for all parties involved. She has strong relationships with a number of overseas law firms and a proven track record of working with them on international deals to deliver seamless legal services to clients.

Joelle works across all industries, but has particular experience in both the resources and forestry sectors.
