Matt is a senior associate in the Corporate and Financial Services teams. He is an experienced corporate lawyer who enjoys working with clients to solve legal problems. Matt has a focus on giving advice in plain English. He has worked with clients from a variety of backgrounds, including large corporates, government agencies, not-for-profit organisations, start-up companies and small-to-medium sized enterprises.
Matt has specialist expertise with capital raising transactions and assisting clients in navigating financial markets legislation. This includes regulated offers to retail investors, establishing and operating managed investment schemes, raising funds from wholesale investors, and assisting clients with regulatory inquiries and exemptions. He also assists business founders and investors with shareholder agreements, joint venture agreements and establishing employee share schemes.
Matt has a range of corporate transactional experience, including private mergers and acquisitions, public takeovers and schemes of arrangement, and stock market listings. He also advises overseas clients on the New Zealand aspects of cross-border transactions and due diligence investigations.
Matt has worked as lawyer in both the private and public sectors. Before joining Lane Neave, Matt was a senior associate in the corporate team at a top tier New Zealand law firm and prior to that an in-house lawyer for the Takeovers Panel executive. Matt has also completed post-graduate study at the University of Auckland specialising in corporate and commercial law.
