Profile

Jack Whittam is a Senior Solicitor in the Christchurch Employment Team. Jack started at Lane Neave as a Summer Clerk in 2020 and was admitted as a Solicitor in 2021.

Within the Employment Team, Jack advises on a range of contentious and non-contentious matters for both employers and employees. In particular, Jack regularly advises on restructures, grievances, disciplinary procedures and workplace investigations. Jack also has experience assisting with Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court matters.

Jack is a solutions oriented individual who takes pride in providing clients with sound legal advice. In 2023, Jack was recognised by the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand as an Emerging Professional Member.

Jack also specialises in accident compensation law and has experience representing clients in ACC review hearings. His work on this subject has been published in the Canterbury Law Review.

Prior to joining the firm, Jack completed his studies part time while sitting on the board of directors of the University of Canterbury Students’ Association. This governance experience helps Jack provide pragmatic advice to corporate clients.
