Rebecca Dean

Law Clerk

LLB (Hons) – University of Canterbury

Rebecca is a Law Clerk in the Christchurch Corporate team. She joined Lane Neave as a Summer Clerk in 2024 and began full time employment in May 2026.

Before transitioning to law, Rebecca built a career in the health and life sciences sector which gives her a strong commercial foundation and a practical understanding of how large organisations make strategic, regulatory and financial decisions.

Rebecca spent eight years with the Australian Government Department of Health, where she negotiated complex risk-sharing agreements with global pharmaceutical companies to secure public funding for high-impact medicines.

She later worked as a health economist for Precision for Medicine in Boston, advising on market access strategies and preparing economic models and reimbursement submissions to obtain insurance coverage for life-saving gene therapies across more than 20 countries. During this time, she also completed a Master’s in Clinical Epidemiology.

This experience working with multinational corporations and government agencies enables her to approach legal issues with a business-focused mindset, particularly in regulated industries and complex transactional environments.

After returning to New Zealand in 2020, Rebecca pursued a career in law and completed her LLB with First Class Honours in 2025. She is currently preparing for admission as a Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2026.
