Digging in for a cause: Lane Neave joins CVNZ Corporate Challenge

Lane Neave has kicked off an early start to Volunteer Week, with staff rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck into hands-on environmental work in Christchurch.

To celebrate World Environment Day, our team joined other local organisations in a friendly planting competition in the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor as part of Conservation Volunteers New Zealand’s (CVNZ’s) annual Corporate Challenge.

A total of 1,800 eco-sourced native seedlings were planted in two hours within the 600ha corridor – an area being revitalised through environmental conservation.

The initiative reflects Lane Neave’s broader commitment to sustainability and community impact. Staff took part using the firm’s paid volunteer leave that reinforces a culture that supports both environmental action and work-life balance.

Our partnership with CVNZ extends well beyond the annual planting days. For the past four years, we’ve provided ongoing financial support, including contributing to the development of a native plant nursery at the Climate Action Campus Ōtautahi. The first of its kind in New Zealand, the campus plays a key role in educating young people about climate change and empowering them to take action.

In addition, the firm provides pro bono legal advice to CVNZ, supporting the organisation’s continued impact across the country.

We’re planning similar volunteer initiatives in Auckland and Queenstown, building on the momentum of Volunteer Week (June 14 – 20) and creating more opportunities for our people to contribute to meaningful, community-led projects.
