After a swift rise through the Lane Neave ranks, Alex Stone has been appointed as the firm’s newest and youngest Partner.
His appointment as Partner adds more depth to an already well-resourced corporate offering. Based in Christchurch, Alex has built a strong reputation as a corporate and commercial specialist, with expertise across financial markets, financial services, capital raising, investment funds, franchising, and corporate advisory.
He regularly advises providers of both retail and wholesale investment offerings, including issuers of debt and equity securities, and investment scheme managers. His work extends to supporting clients operating within the Active Investor Plus investment space, through establishing wholesale direct investment and managed fund products.
Since joining Lane Neave as a graduate Law Clerk in 2017, Alex’s progression has been marked by consistent performance and growing responsibility. Rising to Senior Associate by mid-2023 and now Partner, his journey reflects both his dedication and the firm’s commitment to developing talent from within.
Alex credits Lane Neave’s supportive environment and strong leadership for helping shape his career.
“I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by generous and patient lawyers at every level who have mentored me and invested in my development,” he says.
“The support from Partners and other senior lawyers, along with the firm’s leadership programmes, has played a significant role in my development.”
Recognised as a pragmatic and commercially astute operator, Alex has been entrusted with a range of significant transactions during his career. His notable work includes advising on the acquisition of an oil refractory infrastructure company by an international entity, assisting a global water infrastructure business to acquire New Zealand assets, and acting for the Ullrich Group on the $165 million sale of Ullrich Aluminium to Vulcan Steel – one of the firm’s largest deals to date.
As he steps into partnership, Alex remains focused on delivering high-quality outcomes for clients.
“Precision, quality and achieving the best possible results have always been central to my approach, and that won’t change,” he says.
His appointment as Partner is pending the satisfaction of Law Society requirements.
